2025 Student Fishing League
Tournament RULES
1. Each contestant is expected to observe the common-sense rules of courtesy, safety, sportsmanship and conservation.
2. Artificial Bait only. NO Live or prepared bait is allowed.
3. Bass must be caught in a live and traditional manner. Fish that appear to have been dead for a very long time or appear to have been frozen (white eyed) or appear to have been caged (red finned or scared) will not be counted. This is at the sole discretion of the Weigh Masters or Tournament Director.
4. Winners will be determined by total weight with a maximum of 3 fish per boat being weighed in. At NO Time will contestants have more than 3 fish legal limit in their possession. No Culling/Releasing at the ramp.
5. Fish must be 12’ minimum with mouth closed and fanning tail on a Golden Rule. The Golden Rule will be the official measuring device. ANY SHORT FISH WILL NOT COUNT.
6. Littering, Bad manners, non-sportsman like conduct will be considered grounds for Disqualification and will be at the discretion of the Tournament Director.
7. No Fishing within fifty (50) yards of another competitor’s boat. PLEASE use common courtesy. The 50-yard rule is trolling motor up anchors down. This includes rope and anchor.
8. In case of a tie in total weight, Big Fish of the tie will be the tie breaker.
9. Breaking any rules, Local, State or Federal Laws may be grounds for Disqualification.
10. Any persons caught fighting, cheating or what the tournament director considers unethical behavior will be ejected from the league with no refunds of any kind!!
11. Running lights are required at the start of the tournament. If running lights are NOT working that team will start last at safe light.
12. Students must wear personal floatation devices on the boat at all times.
13. Must check IN and OUT for the safety of all involved.
ALL RULE INTERPRETATIONS AND DECISIONS WILL BE MADE BY THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR AND ARE FINAL.
SUMMARY OF POINTS
SFL HAS TWO DIVISIONS, HIGH SCHOOL (9-12) AND JR HIGH.
EACH TOURNAMENT AWARDS POINTS IN ONE POINT INCREMENTS STARTING AT 100. THE TOTAL WEIGHT WILL DETERMINE WHAT PLACE THE ANGLER COMES IN.
FIRST PLACE IS AWARDED 100 POINTS SECOND PLACE IS AWARDED 99 THIRD IS AWARDED 98 FOUTH IS 97…AND SO ON.
POINTS WILL BE GIVEN TO ALL ANGLERS THAT HAVE A QUALIFING FISH TO WEIGH IN.
ANGLERS WHO GET SKUNKED (DID NOT CATCH A QUALIFYING FISH) GET 25 PARTICIPATION POINTS FOR THEIR ATTENDENCE.
ANGLER WHO WINS 'BIG BASS' WINS AN EXTRA POINT.
TOTALS ARE COMBINED FOR 3 QUALIFIERS FOR FINAL RESULTS.
ANGLERS HAVE THREE CHANCES TO QUALIFY FOR CHAMPIONSHIP. THE TOP 15 IN JR HIGH AND TOP 15 IN SR HIGH ADVANCE TO THE INVITION ONLY CHAMPIONSHIP.
IN ADDITION, THE WINNERS OF THE 3 QUALIFIERS (IN BOTH DIVISIONS) AUTOMATICALLY ADVANCE TO CHAMPIONSHIPS.
